We Help Clients Throughout Central and Southern Mississippi

I am 80 years old.  In 1977, my world was turned upside down when an automobile accident left me permanently paralyzed.  I applied for and received SSI benefits, but in the mid 1980s, my benefits were terminated.  I never understood why as I continued to be disabled.  Not only did I lose my benefits, but I was told that I had to pay the government $9,000.00 back.  For many years, I struggled trying to find money each month to send back.  There were times when I had to choose between sending the  government money and food on the table.  I managed to pay back all but about $2500.  I finally could not find the money to pay any more.  I am so grateful someone told me about Legal Services.  Not only was Legal Services able to work it out so that I did not have to pay back any more money, but they got me back every penny I had paid back, $5786.00.  They also got my benefits  restored.  I now get $846.00 a month.  Legal Services was an answer to my prayers.  I don’t know how I could survive today if Legal Services had not helped me.
